What is Adventure Running?
Adventure running is a challenge as well as a running race. Our courses are designed to push you mentally and physically.
Do all competitors start at the same time?
Yes.
How long do I have to complete the course?
Is there a time cut off?
You will be given plenty of time to finish the course, there is currently no time cut off.
Is this a timed event?
Yes this will be a timed event. You will wear a race number and be required to give the number stub to the race official at the finish line to have your time recorded.
*Some races will be electronic chip timed. Depending on the event.
*What’s electronic chip timing?
Chip timing is the use of an integrated electronic chip that a racer wears on their shoe or ankle that allows a computer to automatically record a racers unique number and finish time.
Can I place in my age group?
There will not be age group placements in the Lower Allen Park Adventure Run. The top 40 runners overall will receive a one of a kind award. Awards will vary at each race. Future races may have age category awards.
How old must I be to compete in an adventure run?
There is not a minimum age to participate. However if you are under 18 a parent or guardian must sign your waiver the morning of the event.
Do you allow teams?
This is not a team event, but you are welcome to run together with friends during the event and help each other with the obstacles. You will not be disqualified for receiving help with any of the obstacles from another racer, however people observing the race will not be allowed to assist anyone who is racing.
Do I have to be a super athlete to complete the course?
No, you do not have to be a super athletic to get through this course and make it to the finish line, but the stronger athletes will excel in this course and reap the rewards at end.
How can I prepare for an adventure run?
Try a bit of cross training by running hard for about a mile and then do some push-ups, pull-ups, and sit-ups, then run another hard mile and do it all over again, this should give you a taste of what you will feel during an adventure run.
What are the rules?
The rules are, run as hard as you can, push through the obstacles as fast as you can, don’t get hurt, and cross the finish line in one piece.
What if I can’t complete an obstacle?
All obstacles must be attempted! If you can't complete an obstacle, you must notify the volunteer so they can record your race number. You may then continue through the race course officially.
Can I get over the walls?
The wooden wall is about 10 feet tall and 13 feet wide allowing multiple racers to traverse it at once. There will be something there to assist the shorter racer, like maybe a rope, depending on the event. You will not be penalized for using the aids that may be put in place to help you over the wall.
There will be chain link fence walls about 8 feet high x 8 feet wide. There will not be an easy side to this wall however chain link fence isn't as hard as a flat wall to get over. Right?
You may also accept assistance from other racers. If you can't complete an obstacle, see question above.
What if I can’t swim?
You will not be required to swim at any of our events, any water sections you will be required to travel in will only be 2 or 3 feet deep maximum. If conditions are too dangerous, that protion of the event will be bypassed. This will be decided the morning of the event and annownced at the pre-race briefing.
Are there water stations along the course?
There will be one water station half way through the course, and at the finish line. They are self serve water stations. You will need to stop and fill a cup. If you decide this may take too much time, we suggest bringing your own source fo hydration, like a camelback or something like that. Becarefull on the low crawls though!
What should I bring to an adventure run?
Comfortable running clothes that you are not worried about getting ripped or extremely dirty. If you feel you will need more water that what is supplied on the course, you can bring your own water bottle or camelback. Also, we are suggesting you wear gloves for the low crawls and some of the other wooden obstacles like the hurdles and walls where you have the potential for splinters and small cuts. Gloves are not mandatory, but highly suggested.
Can I receive a refund?
Absolutely no refunds will be issued at anytime.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The race will continue unless the race organization decides that it is unsafe to be outdoors. At that time a “rain date” will be scheduled, even though this race will not be canceled for a little rain, maybe a typhoon.
Will there be pictures taken at the event?
We will be working with a photographer during the event to allow pictures to be for sale shortly after the event on their web-site. There may also be pictures free for downloading shortly after the event as well. We will keep everyone posted on that. You are also welcome to have friends or family take pictures from off the course boundaries as well.
Can spectators watch the race?
Yes spectators will be able to observe the race all along the course, but will not be able to enter into the obstacle course areas. However they will have a good view of the obstacles to take great pictures.
Can I transfer my registration to someone else?
We will only accomodate this if it is done in a timely manner before the race takes place or show up plenty early the morning of registration and we will try to help you. You may also be able to transfer your registration to a future event.
Will there be showers available after the race?
There will not be showers available.
There will be a bathroom to change out of dirty clothes in at the Lower Allen Park Adventure Run, and portajohns.
How can I become a volunteer?

How do I benefit by being a volunteer?
If the volunteer is needed, the volunteer will be contacted by race personnel. The volunteer will need to be present at least one hour before the race start (7am -7:30am) for a briefing on there responsibilities as a volunteer. Duties will vary. The volunteer will need to be present until the last racer leaves their area. Volunteers will receive a T-Shirt and / or a custom award.
